BrownwoodBangsOAPFundraiserOn Tuesday, April 23rd, the Brownwood High School Theatre Department and the Bangs High School Theatre department will perform their one-act plays during a fundraiser for a Brackettville family killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer on the way home from a UIL competition in Marshall, TX.

The tragedy claimed the lives of four of the five family members in the vehicle.  According to a report on mysanantonio.com, “At around midnight on Saturday, Melissa and Kenneth Koontz, both 46, and their daughters, Madison, 18, and Marley, 15, were killed when their SUV collided with a tractor-trailer police say was traveling the wrong way on U.S. 90. Both girls attended Brackett High School. A third child, 13-year-old Zachary, is in stable condition at University Hospital.”

“The family was returning home after Madison and Marley had a successful day at a UIL competition at Marshall High School. The girls were members of the Brackett High one-act play team, which won an all-star cast award for their performance of ‘Radium Girls,’” the report stated.  The play had qualified to advance to the Regional competition.

Brownwood High School Theatre director, Larry Mathis, and Bangs High School Theatre director, Shannon Lee, have scheduled a cake, pie, and cookie auction as a fundraiser during Tuesday’s event where both one-act plays will be performed.

The fundraiser begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Auditorium at Brownwood High School.  Bangs High School will be performing “The History of Tom Jones” and Brownwood High School will perform “Peter Pan” with a 10-15 minute intermission between the shows.
