TxDotlogoThe Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in cooperation with the City of Brownwood will conduct a public hearing at TxDOT’s Brownwood District office Tuesday, April 16 to discuss a proposed project to extend Marketplace Boulevard.

The project would include constructing a new roadway beginning at the existing Marketplace Boulevard and ending at US 67/84. The proposed facility would include a two-lane paved section on city-owned property within the floodplain. The city would need to acquire a small amount of additional right of way. The project would relieve congestion on US 67/84 and improve safety for the traveling public.

The public hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an open house at the district office located at 2495 Highway 183 North. A formal presentation will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. A public comment period will follow the formal presentation.

Project staff will be available to answer questions on the proposed project beginning at 5:30 p.m. Environmental documentation, project exhibits, maps and design drawings will be available for review during the open house. In addition, this information, along with the tentative schedule for construction, is available by appointment for review and copying at the TxDOT Brownwood District Office, 2495 Highway 183 North, Brownwood, Texas 76802.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this hearing. Those interested in attending who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact TxDOT’s Public Information Office at 325-676-6817 at least one week prior to the public hearing.  TxDOT offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding state holidays.  Since the public hearing will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least one week prior to the public hearing.  TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs. Public transportation to and from the meeting is available upon request from City and Rural Rides (CARR).  Please contact CARR at 1-800-710-2277 to schedule a ride.

Oral and written comments about this project may be presented at the hearing and for a period of 10 days after the hearing. Written statements may also be submitted in person to the TxDOT Brownwood District Office; mailed to the Director of Transportation Planning and Development, TxDOT Brownwood District Office, 2495 Highway 183 North, Brownwood, Texas 76802; or emailed to Jason.Scantling@txdot.gov.
