Brownwood Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2013 around 8:15 PM in the 500 block of Parkway, according to Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller.

Officers of the Brownwood Police Department responded to the residence after receiving a call of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a young child bleeding from a single gunshot wound, Fuller said in a news release.  The child was taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center by Guardian EMS and pronounced deceased once at the ER.

Neighbors in the area say the shooting was accidental.  Police are continuing their investigation and will release more information at a later time.
