Kindergarten students at Northwest Elementary recently soaked up science using different senses as they rotated through various stations during “Super Science Week.”

During the week of March 25th, students filled the cafeteria where stations were set up to give them unique opportunities to see and experience science in action.

“Each class would go to a different station each day and learn or work with the materials at that station,” explained Northwest Elementary kindergarten teacher, Dana Cyr.

Throughout the week students were able to get hands-on experience with everything from magnetism and earth science to using the five senses and studying how things change.

Stations included experiments with sound, magnets, smell, sight, touch and more.  A favorite with the students was a station that taught them how to make Gak, a gooey substance they were each able to hold and study.

“Anything that is gooey that they can put their hands in is a definite hit with our kindergarten kids,” noted Cyr.

“Each year the students and teachers look forward to our Super Science Week,” added Cyr.  “It’s learning and fun all bundled up together.”
