Warmer weather and residents watering schedule has caused water usage to increase in the area.   Lake Brownwood is currently at a level of about 2 feet lower than at this time last year, according to City of Brownwood officials, and weather predictions are for a warm, dry, windy spring.

The City of Brownwood wants to remind residents that Stage 3 water restrictions are still in place.  These Stage 3 restrictions call for outside watering one day per week.  Schedule and unchanged requirements are listed below.

Should lake levels continue to drop, officials state that Stage 4 restrictions will be adopted which call for no outside watering.

Penalties for violating Stage 3 requirements include two warnings, by door hanger or house call, followed by fines and could ultimately lead to water turned off with a reconnection fee.

The City of Brownwood appreciates the citizens’ support and cooperation in preserving our resources.  By using water wisely, we can conserve water and maintain a normal lifestyle.

Current amended Stage 3 restrictions are as follows:

1.  Continuation of Stage 2 actions
2.  All personal, non-household water use is restricted to Mondays and Tuesdays only:

a.  Odd -Addresses ending in odd number Monday – Midnight to 9:00 am and Monday – 7:00 pm to Midnight.
b.  Even- Addresses ending in even numbers Tuesday- Midnight to 9:00am and Tuesday- 7:00 pm to Midnight.

3.  Watering of parks and outside school areas is limited to drip irrigation or handheld hose on designated days for trees, shrubs and planters.

4.  Non-essential Commercial water use reduced 20%.

5.  Minimize outdoor usage.

6.  Reduction in use goal is 10%

7.  Penalties:

a. Warnings, House Call

b. Turn off and reconnect fee
