Early City Council and Police Department welcomed their two newest officers at Tuesday evening’s council meeting where both offers took their oaths.

Officers Sterlin Zwicker and Andres Contreras took their oaths publicly and their wives proudly pinned EPD badges to their uniforms during the meeting.

Both men are first time officers, new to law enforcement and having only been on the job for approximately one month.

Zwicker was born in Pasadena, Texas but grew up in Colorado.  He joined the Navy and served eight years, and then he and his family moved back to Texas and are currently living in Comanche.  Zwicker stated that his military experience helped him make the decision to go into law enforcement.

Contreras was born in Mexico before his family moved to Austin where he spent a good part of his childhood.  After high school, he too joined the military, serving in the Army.  He and his family moved to the Brownwood area in 2005.  Contreras had served as a jailer at the Brown County Jail before completing his law enforcement training.

Chief David Mercer stated that he was “pleased to have both of these officers” working at the Early Police Department.
