The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has recently mapped the community’s flood risk.  This mapping information provided by the NFIP has identified property that may potentially be affected.  The City is hosting a community meeting so citizens can come and determine if their property has been affected.

The public is invited to come to the meeting and determine if flood risk has changed for their property.  City/County and NFIP staff will be available to answer any questions and explain impacts of these changes to their property.

When a property is placed in the floodplain, lenders/banks require flood insurance to ensure proper flood coverage to protect their financial interest.  The NFIP staff will be able to provide you information about your potential flooding risk, and how you may be able to save on flood insurance by purchasing flood insurance before these maps become effective.  Representatives from Brownwood, Early, Blanket and Brown County will be on hand to answer any of your questions.

The citizen meeting will be a come and go vent on April 9th from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM at the Adams Street Community Center, located at 511 E. Adams Street in Brownwood.
