Brownwood Police responded to the report of a one vehicle accident involving a pickup truck striking a utility pole’s guy-wire Wednesday morning.

The pickup was traveling in the 2600 block of Hillsboro shortly after 11:00 AM.  According to officials, the driver momentarily took his eyes off the road to pick up something that he had dropped, and the vehicle veered off the road and struck the pole’s guy-wire.  No injuries were reported.  Damage to the vehicle was unknown at the time of the accident.

Pictured above, the truck was suspended on a guy-wire of the pole and surrounding trees.  The accident resulted in the top of the pole being snapped leaving wires hanging down over the street and power outage to nearby residents on Hillsboro.

Oncor officials roughly estimated the damage at approximately $3000 to repair the pole.  Work crews were dispatched and should have the pole and lines repaired by the end of the day according to the Oncor representative on scene.  Pictured above and below is the pickup and resulting utility pole damage.
