IMG_1900The Good Samaritan Ministries’ Empty Bowls Project will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28 at the Brownwood Coliseum.

For a donation only, choose a hand-painted ceramic bowl and enjoy a simple meal of soup, bread and water. At the end of the meal, those dining take their empty bowl home to serve as a reminder that there are those in our own community who have empty bowls and empty stomachs.

All of the soup is donated from local restaurants and the bowls have been painted by a cross section from the community including schools, colleges, nursing homes, Sunday school classes, scout troops, youth groups and more! To save some time in line, stop by GSM at 305 Clark Street, make a donation and pick up an advance ticket.

New this year, special preview tickets are available for $20. Preview ticketholders will be allowed to come to the coliseum from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. and have first pick of all of the bowls. They will also get a ticket to come back and have soup with us later! (Please note that these are the only tickets that have a set price. Regular tickets are donation only.)

Pictured above are bowls from a previous Empty Bowl event.
