The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s (NIRA) college rodeo kicked off for the first time ever in Brownwood on Thursday night featuring 8 rodeo events and some quality competition.

The rodeo will continue Friday and Saturday night at the Earl Q. Wilson rodeo area in Brownwood with saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, goat tying, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Over 400 college students from west Texas and eastern New Mexico are participating with rodeo stock provided by Bad Company Rodeo from Del Rio, TX.

Tickets are still available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Early Chamber of Commerce, Wendlee Broadcasting, KOXE, Scott’s Western Wear, and Citizens National Bank.  Tickets are $8 each for adults and $5 for kids, and tickets will grant access to both nights if visitors want to attend more than once. The gates open at 6 PM and events begin at 7:30 PM each night.

Call Ranger College at 254-647-3234 for more information about the rodeo.
