Schumakerpic0001Funeral services for Virginia Grigsby Schumaker, age 85, of Brownwood, formerly of Comanche, will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 15, 2013 in the chapel of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche.  Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00.

Virginia passed from this life on February 11, 2013 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Virginia was born on May 13, 1927, in Comanche County to Walter and Nettie Grigsby. After graduating from Comanche High School, she married Roy Adams and they resided in Comanche Texas until 1974.  She was a loving wife and a very devoted mother to her three sons. One of her greatest joys in her life was supporting her sons as she attended their sports and other events. Virginia worked as a buyer for Dunlap’s Department Store in Odessa, Texas. During this change in her life she married Charles Schumaker. They moved to Stephenville, Texas, where she worked for Anthony’s Department Store. Virginia loved spending time with her family and friends, especially playing bingo with her friends. She loved serving others by doing practical things. She welcomed many visitors to her many home-cooked meals. She loved doing anything that included her children and grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Charles Schumaker, her son Billy Adams, her parents Walter and Nettie Grigsby, a brother, Ore Grigsby, and three sisters, Marguerite Lumas, Lottie Faulkner, and Marie Reath. She is survived by her son, Richard Adams and wife Maril of Olney, her son Steve Adams and wife Lyn of Horseshoe Bay, stepson Robert Schumaker and wife Wendy of Woodlands, and a sister Beth Scoggins of San Angelo. MeMaw cherished all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Virginia’s family would like to express gratitude to the doctors and nurses and also the staff at Redstone Assisted Living for the quality care and love she received.

Condolences can be offered to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.com
