TroyReaganDoud_ECSOArrest1:00 PM Update: Erath County Sheriff’s Office released the report regarding the arrest of Troy Doud in shooting death of former Brown County resident Jeff Sewalt in Stephenville on February 1st.   Doud is in the Erath County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Doud was arrested Wednesday night in Stephenville at his home without incident.

The Erath County Sheriff’s office said that Sewalt was dealing with Doud in a business transaction regarding a pickup.  The report states that Doud confessed to currently being in possession of the vehicle title which other evidence indicates was in Sewalt’s possession the morning of his murder.

The report states that Doud told authorities that he repaid the loan secured through Sewalt’s possession of the vehicle title by three installment payments.  Doud stated that he received the title from Sewalt several weeks prior to February 1st. Doud also confessed to speaking with Sewalt on February 1, 2013 at 9:38am, but he did not provide any written documentation to back his claim about having settled his account with Sewalt, the report states.
