Brownwood civic leaders showed their appreciation Tuesday to Major General John F. Nichols, Texas Adjutant General, at the state Capitol in honor of his accomplishments and support of the Camp Bowie Training Facility and its positive impact on Brown County.   Nichols was presented with a “Brownwood Mafia” certificate to commemorate the occasion.

“Central and West Central Texas is extremely fortunate for your company but also for the national defense and we thank you for your service,” said Robert Porter during the presentation.

Along with Porter, Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes, Brad Locker, and Representative Jim Keffer presented the certificate during Brownwood Day at the state Capitol.

The “mafia” is a group whose goal is to promote Brownwood and recognize those do the same.  “Mafia” certificates have been given to former presidents, governors, Congressmen and U.S. Senators in the past.
