comptrollerlogoThe Texas Comptroller’s office released February sales tax allocation numbers for cities across the state.

Brownwood saw a decrease of 4.82% as did Early with 1.90% less in sales tax revenue for the month compared to last February.  This is a total decrease of a little over 2% year-to-date compared to 2012 for each city.

Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their February local sales tax allocations totaling $741 million, up 4.6 percent compared to February 2012.

“Growth in sales tax receipts was led by the construction, retail trade and restaurant sectors,” said Combs. “Receipts from oil and natural gas-related activity also continue to be strong.  State sales tax revenue has now increased for 34 consecutive months.”

February sales tax allocation numbers represent taxes collected on sales in December.
