New air conditioning units were installed Monday at the Brown County Museum of History Annex by One-Source Technical Services, Inc.   A crane was used to remove the old units and put the new ones into place.

Storm damage caused the approximately 28-year-old units to need replacing, according to Brown County Museum of History President Beverly Norris.

“The old units were badly damaged in a hail storm and our insurance did not totally cover the replacement cost, and we did have to pull from our savings to replace them,” Norris said.

One-Source Technical Services, Inc also helped the museum get upgraded and efficient units.

“The Museum is grateful for their help–they helped us procure a rebate from Oncor that enabled us to upgrade to extremely efficient units,” Norris said.

The energy efficient units will help the museum to save on utility costs, which are a big part of the museum’s expenses to heat and cool the 8,000 square foot annex building.

“Heating and cooling are so important because the Museum of History houses many delicate artifacts–we have pioneer items that date from the 1880’s, and our Camp Bowie and World War II uniforms, maps, and letters are approaching 75 years of age,” Norris said.  “All need to be kept in a good environment to protect and preserve them.”

Norris said that the museum continues to add and expand exhibits and that volunteers and donations help the museum offer a look at the county’s rich history.

“The museum is grateful for donations to help keep Brown County’s amazing history alive, and volunteers are always welcome,” Norris said.
