Stars of Texas Art Demonstrations Begin

Demonstrations at the 2013 Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit in Brownwood kicked off Monday with oil painting, glass blowing and basics of Photo Shop.

Other demonstrations, listed below will continue each weekday through Friday, February 15th.

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit was unveiled Saturday night at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center and will be open to the public through the 15th.  Show hours are 9am-6pm weekdays, Saturday 9am-4pm, and Sunday 1pm-4pm.

Pictured above is artist Jana Marie Herndon demonstrating glass blowing.

Selected artists will be demonstrating their techniques and styles throughout the exhibit each weekday, from 9 am to 3 pm.  The public is invited to attend the demonstrations at the following dates and times:

Monday, February 4

1. Paul Friske – Oil Painting

2. Jana Marie Herndon- Glass Blowing

3. Sulema Orr –Basics of Photo Shop

 

Tuesday, February 5

1. Bob Stuth Wade- Oil Painting

2. Wanda Wade- Mixed Media

3. Karen Lambreth- Paper Mache

 

Wednesday, February 6

1. Christopher Gaston- Computer Graphics

2. Effie Dawkins— Basket Weaving is Fun

3. Tina Howard- Linoleum Block

 

Thursday, February 7

1. Tommy Munster- One Paige Zine

2. Jonathan Ceniceros- Pastel Painting

3. Hood Dendy- Spinning Yarn (spinning wheel)

 

Friday, February 8

1. Joy Schumacher- Art is child’s play

2. Julie Mize- Artist Books

3. Molly Gore- Stain Glass Mosaic

 

Monday, February 11

1. Smokey Tormolen- Tile Painting

2. Kit Timmins-Painting with Light (pastel painting)

3. Kate Smith- Enamels, Copper & Fire (jewelry making)

 

Tuesday- February 12

1. Linda Eggleston – Oil Painting

2. Judy Kirksey – Pastel Painting

3. Betsy Johnson – Having Fun with Acrylic Paints

 

Wednesday, February 13

1. Kathryn Jones – Marbleizing With Watercolors

2. Barbara Thorton – From Sheep to Shawl (Spinning Wheel)

3. Ashley McLaughlin – Acrylic Painting

 

Thursday, February 14

1. Paige Shelton – Pottery

2. Ted and Martha Shelton – Texas Wildflowers

3. Ginger Test – Watercolors

 

Friday, February 15

1. Paige Shelton – Pottery

2. Mike Lanier – Monochromatic Under Paintings (acrylic painting)

3. Brenda Shaw – Watercolor Painting
