Central Texas Opportunities, Inc., Internal Revenue Service, and Texas State Technical College are sponsoring program offering free tax return help until April 17th.  This program is available Mondays 1:00p.m. – 4:30p.m., Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Fridays 1:00p.m.-4:30p.m. at Texas State Technical College, 305 Booker Street in Brownwood.

To qualify, recipients must have worked a job sometime in the past year, have earned less than $50,000, and live in Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland or McCulloch Counties.

Those who wish to receive this tax service should bring their valid photo ID, Social Security Cards (for all household members), original copies of all 2012 W2 statements, a copy of their 2011 tax return, and all other tax forms to be filed (child care, tuition, etc.).

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is possible because of community volunteers who offer free tax preparation to low and moderate income taxpayers, the elderly, and those with disabilities.

Organizers state you could get up to $5,000 back in earned income and other tax credits, file your tax return electronically, get your refund fast and stop paying tax preparation fees.

To file your return free, call (325) 625-4167 or visit Texas State Technical College at 305 Booker Street in Brownwood during the designated times.

For more information, visit www.ctoinc.org/events/detail/free-and-fast-tax-returns.
