comptrollerlogoThe Texas Comptroller’s office released January sales tax allocation numbers for cities across the state.

Brownwood saw an increase of 1.9% in sales tax revenue for the month compared to last January while the city of Early was down 3.89%.

Statewide, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their January local sales tax allocations totaling $530.8 million, up 7.3 percent compared to January 2012.

“Strong sales tax collections continue in most major economic sectors in Texas,” said Combs. “The strongest growth was from business spending-driven sectors including oil and natural gas, manufacturing and construction.”

January sales tax allocation numbers represent taxes collected on sales in November.
