Funeral Services for Smokey Davis, age 87, of Brownwood, Texas will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at the Heartland Funeral Home with Bro. Ruben Packer officiating.  Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.   He passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Abilene Regional Medical Center.

Bluefford “Smokey” Davis was born February 21, 1925 in Childress, Texas to Bluefford H. and Bernice Rippetoe Davis.  Smokey was a veteran of the Korean war and was a retired fireman for the U.S. Government.

Smokey loved fishing, hunting and cooking red beans & corn bread for his friends.

Survivors include one son Wesley Davis of Fort Worth; one daughter Carrie Martin of Corpus Christi; one sister Katherine Short of Mansfield, Texas; his girl friend Ann Amway of Brownwood and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step brother Ed Ward.
