On Tuesday, December 11th, East Elementary students filled the stage at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church to perform at their annual Christmas Concert.

The sanctuary was filled to capacity, as the children sang a variety of Christmas tunes including “White Christmas”, “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”, and “Let it Snow.”

“We would like to thank our friends at Coggin Church for allowing us to use their facility,” said East Elementary Principal, Nanda Wilbourn. “We have about 240 students who perform and a great turnout of parents, family, friends and staff, so we’re glad to have a place where all of us can be together.”

The show featured separate performances by the first, second, and third grade classes and included a finale of “Joy to the World” that featured the all the students together with their music teacher, Brian Potter accompanying them on the guitar.

“There’s nothing more beautiful than children’s voices singing Christmas songs,” said Wilbourn. “They are so excited this time of the year and their enthusiasm is evident as they sing.”
