Susan Swindle

Memorial services for Susan Swindle, 59, of Abilene, will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 14, 2012, in the St. James United Methodist Church of Abilene. A reception will be held following the service. There will also be a visitation from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, December 15, at the Swindles’ home.
Mrs. Swindle died from injuries sustained in a car accident on Sunday, December 9, 2012, in Brownwood.

Susan Margaret Prestridge was born on May 17, 1953, in Abilene Texas to William A. Prestridge and Frances J. Shipley Prestridge. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1971 and went on to graduate from McMurry University in 1992. Susan married Steven C. Swindle in Abilene on November 24, 1973.

She owned an accounting business, and was a member of three genealogical societies: The Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, DAR, and Daughters of the Founders and Patriots of America. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister and had survived MS for 22 years.

Mrs. Swindle was a lifelong resident of Abilene and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Steven Swindle of Abilene; children and grandchildren, Sarah Swindle and Brooke Glover of Abilene, Sabrina and David Callison and son Luke, of Midlothian; her parents, Bill and Frances Prestridge of Abilene; three brothers, David and Peggy Prestridge of Abilene, Andy and Connie Prestridge of Abilene and Paul and Rose Prestridge of Pflugerville. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Ernest Wayne Swindle of Abilene; brother-in-law David and Linda Swindle of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law Melissa Glover of Abilene; and nine nieces and nephews.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the National MS Society.

Services for Susan Swindle are under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations of Brownwood.
