Rising Star ISD Education Foundation still has available openings in The Central Texas Junior Debate League. This program is open to any 7th and 8th grade students within a thirty mile radius of Rising Star, Texas.

Participating students will be required to attend practice at Rising Star ISD Dec 13th and 27th from 6-9 PM. They will then travel to competitive meets on average of 2 times a month after Christmas break within the state of Texas.

The students will be coached by Dr. Max Thompson, Superintendent of Rising Star ISD. Dr. Thompson possesses over 20 years of experience in the art of debate and has taken countless numbers of students all the way to national competitions in the few years he has been at Rising Star. This program will provide an academic outlet for a young mind as well as present a new opportunity to experience another perspective in life. Not to mention that studies show that students that participate in debate are proven to retain more college ready skills than their non-debating peers.

This program is free of charge to the parents; however, donations are accepted and are fully tax deductible. If you have a junior high child that you feel needs this academic enrichment, please contact Sarah Childers at 325-203-3262 for further information.
