TxDotlogoTexas Department of Transportation will soon begin two projects in Early, improvement of approximately 1.5 miles of U.S.Highway 84/183S and a new street, Heartland Drive, which will connect Old May Road to U.S. Highway 183N

The U.S. Highway 84/183S project is slated to begin in mid November and will complete rehabilitation of the pavement, including new road base and surfacing on U.S. Highway 84/183S from Turtle Creek to about a quarter mile west of FM 2125. A center left turn lane will be added from the U.S. Highway 67/377 intersection to the FM 2126 intersection. When the project is complete, this section will have a total of five lanes, including the turn lane. Work also includes adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks and drainage. Work should be completed in about a year.

This project will be completed by Prater Equipment, Inc. of Comanche at a project cost of approximately $4 million.

The Heartland Drive construction project will also begin in mid November, to construct a new roadway from CR 381 (Old May Road) to U.S. Highway 183N in Early.

Work will include building .32 miles of roadway, as well as installing curbs, gutters and drainage. The new road, called Heartland Drive, should be complete by spring of 2013.

Prater Equipment, Inc. of Comanche will also complete this project which is estimated at $727,000.

This street will also provide a safer entrance and exit to the future location of the Bruner Chevrolet and Toyota dealership which is under construction directly across U.S. Highway 183N from Heartland Mall of Early.
