After a friendly challenge was set between the Llano and Brownwood high schools to collect beans and rice for each team’s local food bank, Brownwood was victorious after the final numbers were announced.

Before the Brownwood vs. Llano football game was played at Gordon Wood Stadium Friday night, each school’s student councils met, and each school’s total was compared, with Llano having 1130.2 lbs. of rice and Brownwood raising a whopping 2345 lbs. of beans.

All proceeds will be split between the two schools’ communities.  Brownwood will donate food products to the Good Samaritan Ministries and Llano will donate to the Llano Food Pantry.

This competition ran for two weeks and concluded at the friendship exchange between the two school’s Student Councils before the game.  The BHS Student Council thanks participants for their support of the council and for supporting Good Samaritan Ministries food bank with these important food staples.

Pictured above are Brownwood and Llano student council members on the field for the announcement of the rice and beans challenge winner.
