Emergency responders were called to a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries on Highway 183S at the railroad bridge southeast of Early on Thursday evening.

According to emergency responders on scene, an SUV rear-ended a passenger car just at the entrance of the railroad crossing.  The accident occurred shortly after 5:00pm.  The driver of the passenger car was reported to have a large knot on her head and a child passenger was in the vehicle; both were checked by Guardian EMS on scene and declined transport to the hospital for further evaluation.  The driver of the SUV was reported to be uninjured.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and at least one of the vehicles was towed from the scene. The cause of the accident was unknown.

Traffic was backed up in both directions as the accident was worked and the flow of traffic was reduced to one lane, the northbound lane.

Texas Department of Public Safety, Early Volunteer Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies, a Brown County Constable and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.

Pictured above EMS checks on the driver of the passenger car.  Below are more photos of the accident scene.
