comptrollerlogoThe City of Brownwood experienced a steep decline in sales tax allocations for the month of November, dropping 7.12% compared to November of last year.  Despite the monthly decline, Brownwood’s year-to-date sale tax number is still up 3.52%, although this number has declined slightly over the last two months.

The City of Early had an increase of 2.24% in sales tax allocations for November compared to last year at this time.  Blanket saw an increase of 16.73%, and Bangs was down the largest percentage at -18.70% for November.

Statewide, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs will send November local sales tax allocations totaling $611.5 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts, up 5.4 percent compared to November 2011.

“The state’s growth in sales tax revenue continued to be led by collections from the oil and natural gas-related sectors,” said Combs. “We also saw strong consumer spending drive gains in retail trade and the restaurant sector as well.”

November sales tax allocations represent monthly sales made in September.
