Dr. Don Newbury, Chancellor of Howard Payne University and now a well-known speaker and columnist, will speak Sunday evening, November 11th at the annual Thanksgiving banquet at Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
The event will begin at 6 p.m., and there is no charge. Visitors are cordially invited to attend.
A Brown County native, Dr. Newbury completed a 40-year career in higher education in 2000, including the presidency of HPU from 1985-1997.
He started writing a weekly humor column, The Idle American, almost 10 years ago. It now appears in about 175 publications statewide.
Author of 10 books, his latest is a five-hour audiobook on four CD’s entitled Giants Along the Way. He will sign books at the banquet.
Brenda, his wife of 46 years, will accompany him to the Rocky Creek engagement. They Newburys have three daughters and six grandchildren, and reside in Burleson
