BwdMunicipalJudgeLeeHaneyBrownwood’s new Municipal Court Judge Lee Haney began his new job Monday. The Municipal Court is in the west end of the Brownwood-Brown County Law Enforcement Center. Haney was selected as one of the finalists by the Brownwood City Council, and was chosen on a 3-2 vote by the council. Lee Haney’s rich experience as a former Brown County Judge, 35th Judicial District Attorney, and practicing attorney helped in the city’s decision to appoint him as judge.

Asked if he would be making any changes in the way the court operates, Haney said, “I don’t anticipate any immediate or major changes because I think the court is operating efficiently and well at this time. Naturally, as time goes on, we’ll try to ensure that it keeps up with the changes in technology and becomes even more efficient…if that’s possible.”

Judge Lee Haney also serves as the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Early. As the Municipal Court Judge, Haney handles traffic court and citations handed out by the Brownwood Police traffic enforcement division, City Code Enforcement, and municipal criminal complaints.
