votebuttonBrown County voters are showing up in great numbers to cast their votes according to the Brown County Elections Office which reported a total of 4458 votes cast in the first five days of early voting.

According to Assistant Elections Administrator Larry Franks, at the current rate, the 2012 election is on pace to beat the early voter turnout record set back in 2008.

“Total early voting in 2008 was 8,183.  We are already at 55% (of that total) and still have 7 days to go,” said Franks.

Franks said that 2008 set a record with 63% voter turnout by Election Day.

Tuesday, the second day of early voting, a new daily record was set with 967 ballots cast.

“We have never had over 750, even in the 2008 elections,” Franks said.

Daily totals this week surpassed the 750 mark each day.

Early voting will continue the following days and times including weekend hours:

Saturday   8 – 5

Sunday   12 – 5

Monday – Wednesday  8 – 5

Thursday & Friday  7 – 7

Election Day is November 6 and polling locations throughout Brown County will be open from 7:00am-7:00pm.
