An Early High School junior, Tim Wade, broke the Guinness World Book Record for the most consecutive handsprings at the Early vs. Bangs football game Friday night.

Four students from Early, who train at Seal Gymnastics, participated in the halftime show, working to do as many consecutive handsprings down the field hoping to break the then 35 handspring record currently in the Guinness World Book of Records.

The current record was held by 16-year-old Miranda Ferguson of Dallas and set October 5, 2012.

As each attempt was made, the crowd would count as the gymnast’s hands touched the ground, rallying in support of each.

The first attempt Friday night was by 5th grader Hailey Spiekerman who came up a bit short with 28 handsprings; however  another 5th grader, Cale Wade, made an impressive 36 consecutive handsprings, breaking the record by one.

The third attempt to break the new record of 36 was Tres Underwood, a junior, who also came up with with 31.

The final attempt to set an even bigger record was by Tim Wade, a junior at Early High School.  Tim made a whopping 39 consecutive handsprings across the field.

Congratulations to Tim for breaking the record!   Tim and his brother Cale are the sons of Seal Gym owners Robert and Kristin Wade.
