Lake Brownwood benefited from weekend rainfall, and the lake level has increased by 3 feet since Friday when the rain began, according to Brown County Water Improvement District General Manager Dennis Spinks.

“Lake level is up 3 feet to 1414.72,” Spinks said Monday morning.  “I do not know how much more will come into lake at this point but will have Lake Patrol check Jim Ned and Pecan Bayou to see if they are still running on the upper watershed.”

Water data from the USGS indicates that runoff is still adding water to the lake, but the increase is starting to level off.

At the current level, Lake Brownwood is still about 10 feet low from its maximum capacity of 1425 msl.

Many Brown County residents reported more than 3 to 5 inches of rain over the weekend.

Officials said that for now, current Stage 3 water restrictions are still in place until further notice.
