Proclamation

Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes proclaimed Tuesday, October 2nd as National Night Out in Brownwood at Tuesday’s city council meeting and encouraged residents to participate in the annual event.

“It is essential that all citizens of the City of Brownwood be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in Brownwood,” Haynes said.

From 5:30pm to 8:30pm on October 2nd, residents in neighborhoods throughout Brown County will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police, and other activities.

Organizers of the event said that there are currently 54 block parties registered for National Night Out across Brown County.   Although the event is one week away, residents interested in holding a block party in their neighborhood still have time to sign up.

Representatives from the Brownwood Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Early Police Department, Bangs Police Department, area fire departments, and city officials will travel around Brownwood, Early, Bangs and Brown County during the event to visit these gatherings and speak to those in attendance.

For more information or to register as a block captain, contact Officer Chandra Means at 325-643-9520 or by email at cmeans@ci.brownwood.tx.us
