Tom Green County  Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Judge J.P. McGuire’s office released a copy of the complaint filed by Texas Ranger J. Nick Hanna, which establishes a connection between a Brownwood woman who was missing for nearly two weeks and the arrest of her ex-boyfriend for online impersonation.

According to the documents, Lanny Marvin Bush, 53, admitted to authorities that he set up a fake Facebook account in order to communicate with his ex-girlfriend Michele Reiter, with intent to do her harm.  The document also states that Bush acknowledged sending a text message from Reiter’s phone after the suspected time of her disappearance.  Although he admitted to the Facebook scheme, he denies responsibility for her disappearance, the document states.  The documents also state that Bush acknowledged he made up the name “Rocky Switzer” on the social website.

The complaint states that the Brownwood Police Department found a post on Reiter’s Facebook page from an individual named “Rocky,” which established that “Rocky” and Reiter had a date scheduled for Monday night, September 10th.

The document also states that Reiter was arrested on August 28th for an alleged assault of Bush.

Bush was arrested in Tom Green County on the charge of online impersonation on Thursday, September 20th.

Human remains were found Monday morning in a remote area of Coleman County, and Brownwood Police state that they believe that they belong to Michele Reiter.  They await confirmation of the identity pending an autopsy.   Police have not released any information on a possible cause of death.

Reiter was last seen on September 10th around 6:30pm when she left for a dinner date that evening, according to her roommate.  According to police reports, Reiter’s roommate reported her missing on September 11th after Reiter did not come home for the night.  She also did not report for work that morning at Home Depot, where she had worked for approximately 4 years. The missing Brownwood woman’s vehicle was found abandoned Wednesday, September 13th at the Bert Massey Sports Complex.

Friends and family gathered the evening of Thursday, September 14th for a candlelight vigil for Reiter at Coggin Park.  Friends of Reiter organized a pair of search parties on Sunday, September 23 to search the county for the then missing woman.
