Everett L. Followwell

FollowwellEverettLEverett L. Followwell, age 92, of Brownwood left his earthly home on Friday, September 21, 2012 to be with his heavenly father.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday at the Brownwood Evangelism Center with Pastor Ken Colegrove officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.  Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Followwell was born January 23, 1920 in Rising Star, the son of the late Jim and Lucy Blackstock Followwell.  He grew up mostly in Navarro County and was married to Ruth Pinkston on August 27, 1938 in Pioneer, Texas, with whom he just celebrated 74 years of marriage.  He worked most of his life as a driller in the oil fields and as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1982 from Operating Engineers Local # 450 in Houston when they moved back to Lake Brownwood where he and his wife built a new home.  He was an active member of the Brownwood Evangelism Center for over 64 years having served as a deacon and treasurer.  He also was a charter member of the church.

Mr. Followwell enjoyed fishing and hunting and was especially known for his famous fish frys that he loved to host.  He was known to always be willing to help others in need.  He enjoyed being with people and was known as a workaholic who loved being outdoors.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Followwell of Brownwood; 2 daughters – Donita Denison and husband Carrol of Brownwood, and Gayle Dean of Killeen; grandchildren – Terry Denison and wife Paula of Brownwood, Sandra Milligan and husband Mike of Norman, Oklahoma, Shannon Dean of Killeen, Clint Dean of Killeen, Brandon Dean of Lometa, great grandchildren – William Milligan and wife Karen,  Brandon Milligan,  Adam Milligan and wife Gina, Kandice Denison, Caleb Dean , Seth Dean, B. J. Dean, and Parker Milligan; great great grandchild – Elexis Milligan; brother – O. D. Followwell and wife Wanda of Brownwood; sister – Mozelle Walton of Alamogordo, New Mexico; 2 sister-in-laws – Patsy Followwell of May and Beth Followwell of Edna, Tx. and  numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Alvie and L.B. Followwell and a sister, Nina Hall.
