HPU Volleyball Wins Third Straight

The Howard Payne volleyball team defeated Concordia University Texas 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-19) to post their third straight conference win Tuesday evening.

The Lady Jackets came out strong hitting .216 in the opening set and secured it 25-23. The second set would be an even closer battle. With Concordia holding a 21-19 lead and the Lady Jackets outscored CTX 6-2 to claim the set 25-23.

In the third set neither team hit the ball well but the Lady Jackets prevailed and took the set 25-19.

Sarah Bishop and Taylor Jordan led HPU with seven kills each. Tolli Wylie played solid with six kills and a .385 attack pct. Tate Sullivan had a team high three service aces. This week’s ASC West

Division Defensive Player of the Week, Hannah Hicks, had four kills and two blocks.

Jessica Guerra and Allyson Reed had 14 and 12 assists respectively. Bishop and Shelby Bridges each added 10 digs.

Howard Payne improves to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play. CTX falls to 5-8 overall and 0-2 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play next at the ASC Crossover Tournament number one this weekend in Alpine, Texas hosted by Sul Ross State University.
