BaileyphotoFuneral Services for Betty Bailey, age 83 of Early, will be held Tuesday September 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at 4th  Street Church of Christ in Brownwood with Rodney Tedford and Ryan Smithey officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. She passed away Friday September 14, 2012 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Betty was born on August 28, 1929 in San Saba, Texas to Jack and Elsie (Barker) Johnson.

She married John Bailey on August 16, 1950 in San Saba; Betty and John moved to Early in 1994; she was a devout Christian, and at the time of her death she was a faithful member of 4th Street Church of Christ.   She enjoyed teaching Sunday school for over 50 years; and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her beloved husband and parents. Betty spent 15 years as a beautician, but also worked beside her husband on the family ranch.

Betty is survived by 3 children; Cindy Proud of Brownwood, Mike Bailey and wife Brenda of Pittsburgh, Texas, Robert Bailey and wife Kala of Roff, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; Jonathan Proud, Laurie Bailey, Tonya McElyea and husband Cameron, Ken Bailey and wife Julie, Kati Bailey, and Troy Bailey; 5 great-grandchildren; McKenzie and Addison McElyea, Madison, Reagan, and Kennedy Bailey; 1 brother, Tommy Johnson and wife Annie; also numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Bailey, her parents, Jack and Elsie Johnson, an infant sister, Paula Johnson, and a son-in-law, Michael Proud. The family requests that memorial be made to: Cherokee Home for Children, PO Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832-0295. Condolences may be left for the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com
