Hands on a House Contestants Selected

IMG_4235Organizers for the Brownwood Reunion Hands on a House competition selected contestants for the weekend-long contest Wednesday evening.

Twenty-five contestants and 3 alternates were chosen out of more than 50 applications received to participate in the event.

The 2012 Hands on a House winner will  take home the custom hunting cabin built by Johnny Cantwell.  For the first time in the competition’s history, there will be a sizable 2nd prize for the runner up, a hunting blind.

There will also be several side competitions during the event including a costume contest, food drive, waiter contest and more (see full schedule below).

The competition kickoff will begin at 5pm Friday and run until a winner is named on Sunday.

5:15 pm Friday Explanation of Rules to Contestants and Judges

5:30 pm Friday Introduction of Contestants – with Ben Cox as MC

5:35 pm Friday Recognition of Classes that won the Food Drive Competitions from each school.

5:40 pm Friday Introduction of new “Food Booth” – sponsored by Gary Twiford, Realtor, Don Holland, Realtor, and the Early High School Key Club

5:45 pm Friday Group Picture – All Judges, Helpers & Contestants

5:53 pm Friday National Anthem, sponsored by LandMark Life

5:55 pm Friday Invocation, By Royce Blackburn, Realtor

6:00 pm Friday Contest Begins

8:00 pm Friday First 5 minute break

8:15 pm Friday Underwood’s Cafeteria to provide dinner to contestants

9:45 am Saturday “Parade” – All Contestants & Judges will participate and walk through the parade area downtown, led and sponsored by Gary Twiford, Realtor & Johnny & Olivia Cantwell, Builders

1:00 pm Saturday “Shooting Contest”, sponsored by Brad Wells with Texas Bank Mortgage and Sheri Wells, Realtor.

3:00 pm Saturday Food Drive Competition Ends – Contestant with most food earns a 1 hour break.

4:00 pm Saturday “Waiter Competition” sponsored by Jennifer Newton. Someone will be eliminated.

6:00 pm Saturday “Ring Toss” – Sponsored by Kimon Faubion, Realtor and Stephen Young, Realtor. Winners earn breaks, losers do not.

8:00 pm Saturday “Costume Contest” – Sponsored by Ray Tipton with the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, and Terry Blagg & Stephen Young, Realtors – Winner earns an extra 30-minute break.

10:00 pm Saturday Physical Challenge- Someone will be eliminated

1:00 am Sunday Game On – No Rules, very few breaks

5:00 pm Sunday (or Sooner!) – 1st Place wins the Hunters Cabin, and 2nd Place wins the Deer Blind *

All food will be donated to the Good Samaritan Ministries and the Food Pantry at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
