Local Martial Artist Sensei Robert N. Green II of KBK Martial Arts, was inducted into the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Houston, Texas On July 28th. The event lasted three days with the first two days being dedicated to Martial Arts seminars of all types by some of the greatest Martial Artists the world has to offer, and the third day being filled with grappling, sparring, weapons forms, and kata competitions. The whole experience was an amazing exhibition of Martial Arts skill according to Green.

The Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame was established over 15 years ago by Professor Silverio P. Guerra as a way to give recognition to individuals that have made significant contributions to the Martial Arts.  It also is designed to promote increasing public awareness of the positive role Martial Arts plays in the lives of countless participants, regardless of age, sex, or physical ability, worldwide.  Only those who have met rigorous standards are considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.

Sensei Green follows a long tradition of Martial Arts excellence.  His teacher of over five years, Kyoshi Bob Brewer of Brownwood, is a two time inductee and the KBK MA system’s founder and Grand Master, Dr Robert Rapue, is also an inductee.  The Art of KBK MA is a no nonsense approach to self-defense that works the first time, every time.  It was founded back in the 1970’s by Grand Masters Roy Brown and Robert Rapue.  These two visionaries were some of the first people to look at the many different Martial Arts the world over and say that while each one had something great to offer, not a one of them was perfect.  These men became schooled in many of those different arts and then took the best of each and correlated it to form what is today called KBK MA.

Since its founding KBK MA has seen its fair share of time in the ring.  From 1989-1999 KBK MA has won three state championships, one national championship, and over sixty first, second, and third place wins.  All of these wins were done at the top AAA rated Karate Tournaments and were done by only going to two or three out of thirty-five a year!  That is a feat that few systems have ever accomplished.  For his part, Sensei Green has taught this art in both the traditional Dojo setting as well as in high school. All of this was taken into consideration, along with other factors, when the decision by the Hall of Fame Directors was made to award Sensei Green the Distinguished Instructor Award.

Sensei Green shared the honor of induction alongside several of the world’s top martial artists such as Dr. Jimmy Steger, 10th Dan, president and founder of the International Fujikan Federation, the American Kung Fu Association, and the Fellowship of Christian Martial Arts and Jorge “Macaco” Patino 2012 winner of the Light Weight Title Belt at the Legacy Fighting Championships, 3rd Dan of Brazil.  These and other inductees now share a place of honor next to other great Martial Artists like Frank Shamrock and Grand Master Robert Rapue.

Sensei Green is married to his loving wife Marie Stephanie Green (a writer and wonderful cook).  They reside in Zephyr, TX.  Green teaches math for Ron Jackson State School in Brownwood, TX and strives to be a positive role model and follower of Christ.
