Organizers for the 12th annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration hosted a volunteer rally at the Depot Tuesday evening to kick off Reunion week with 1980s food, music and fun.

Hundreds of volunteers joined in the fun, picked up their new Reunion t-shirts and got their instructions for duties for the event.

Rowonna McNeely, Reunion volunteer coordinator, said that each year between 1200-1500 volunteers help make the event possible in addition to organizers.  With this year’s 80s theme, there were volunteers dressed in period clothes, sunglasses and decorations reminding of years gone by to help get them into the spirit of this year’s celebration.

According to McNeely, it’s not too late to volunteer.  Many jobs are still available including set up, tear down, trash pickup and for some, indoor volunteer jobs such as helping at the Martin & Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum.  Those interested can contact McNeely at 325-642-5851.

The Brownwood Reunion Celebration is an annual event in Brownwood that draws tens of thousands of visitors to the area to enjoy shows, contests, kid’s activities, live music, parades, and more. The 12th Annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration will be held Sept. 14-16 in Brownwood, featuring concerts from Rick Springfield, Wade Bowen, Three Shades Blue, Mark Powell & Lariat, and local Christian bands – Brian Potter, Strange Trade, Sun City, and Free For All.

Wristbands that include access to all three nights of concerts will be on sale until noon on Friday for the advance price of $15. They will be available at the concert gate during the Reunion for $20.
