BFD Fire and Rescue Reports 9/5

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of August 26-September 1, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 21 medical emergencies, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 5 fire calls and 2 agency assist calls.

Reports of interest include:

Monday, August 27

*6:00am – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1700 block of 1st Street where a utility pole was struck by lightning.

Tuesday, August 28

*7:52pm – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 3800 block of FM 2125.  The patient was loaded with Guardian EMS and transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Wednesday, August 29

*10:52am – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1500 block of Indian Creek.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find that a smoke detector was activated by smoke from popcorn cooking.  There was no emergency.

*8:03pm – BFD was called to a fire in the area of 10th Street & Good Shepherd.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find the plastic sheathing on a phone line on fire due to another touching a power line. Oncor arrived and put out the fire on the power line.

*10:37pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2600 block of Hwy 377S.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find the outside air conditioning unit smoking. The main breaker was turned off.

Saturday, September 1

*4:41am – BFD was called to a fire in the 1400 block of Avenue A.  Fire fighters responded to a call of a structure fire.  Upon arrival, light smoke was visible. Fire fighters found smoldering embers in kitchen above stove.  The embers were extinguished and area was overhauled.  The fire marshal was notified.

*12:43pm – BFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 1000 block of W, Commerce involving an 18 wheeler dragging electric wires which caused an electric pole to break.  Oncor and Verizon were contacted.
