mainBrown County residents are invited to take part in the Brown County Emergency Preparedness Fair, which will be held from 10:00am-2:00pm on Friday, September 28th.

The event is being held to help recognize September as National Emergency Preparedness month. The Fair will take place in and around the American Red Cross building located at 600 E. Adams Street, featuring information booths, emergency vehicles, aircraft displays and live demonstrations from local emergency response agencies.

An award ceremony will kick off the event, honoring local and state leaders who work in the emergency response and preparedness fields according to Jodie Armstrong, Brown County Public Health and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

“We hope to educate the public to regularly participate in drills, be prepared, to know the community’s plan and leadership,” said Armstrong.  “We appreciate the support of such a patriotic community that cares about the area, state and our country.”

The fair will offer area residents a chance to learn more about the local emergency response capabilities and how they can better prepare and protect their own families in the event of a disaster or serious emergency.  For more information on how you can prepare your family for emergencies, visit www.ready.gov or www.texasprepares.org.
