Bert Milton, age 69, of Brownwood passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 26 at 1 pm at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave., Brownwood. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5pm to 8pm at Davis-Morris. Bertha was born on April 15, 1943, in Richland Springs, Texas to Duward and Alene Newby and was a longtime resident of Brownwood. She married Bob Milton in Las Vegas, NV.
Bert loved the ocean and walking on the beach. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding her birds and being outdoors. She was unconditionally devoted to her family. She was a mother to all who knew her and was known as “Mom-Mom”.
She is survived by her children, David Hurst and his wife Shirley of Freeport and Patty Hurst of Lake Jackson; sister, Edna Myers and her husband Bobby of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Jayson Bush of Lake Jackson, Cameron Taterka and his wife Nikki of Brownwood, Chloe Hinton of Lake Jackson, Star Hurst and her husband Troy of Austin, Rheana Hurst of Austin and Keith McAfee and his wife Liisa of Freeport; niece, Malena Lindsey of May and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; son, John Paul Hurst, Jr.; brother, John F. Newby, sisters, Mamie Lindsey, Laurie Beecher and great grandson, Sean McAfee.
