BFD Fire and Rescue Reports 8/20

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of August 12-19, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 16 medical emergencies, 5 motor vehicle accidents, 11 fire calls and 1 public assist call.

Reports of interest include:

Sunday, August 12

*6:41am – BFD responded to a fire call in the 1800 block of 7th Street. Firefighters investigated the smell of smoke in the area and determined it to be a barbeque cooker that was smoking.

*9:08pm – BFD was called to the 1700 block of Stewart Street regarding a fire call. The incident was determined to be an electrical problem.

*9:12pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2800 block of N Hwy 279 regarding a grass fire caused by lightning.  Upon arrival of fire crews, nothing was found.

*10:40pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding the report of a tree on fire.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find Oncor looking for a blown transformer.  No fire was found.

Monday, August 13

* 4:40pm – BFD was dispatched to an agency assist in the 1300 block of 1st Street. Fire crews provided thermal imaging camera to police and the fire marshal.

Tuesday, August 14

* 1:37pm – BFD responded to an accident in the 400 block of Main Street involving a vehicle which had driven through a building.  Fire crews checked for injuries provided first aid.

Wednesday, August 15

*5:21am – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1500 block of Market Place regarding a deep fryer that was smoking.  Firefighters arrived and found that the fryer had just been cleaned and when heated began to smoke.  The cooking area was checked before fire crews cleared the scene.

*4:43pm – BFD was called to a fire in the area of FM 2125 near Hwy 279.  The incident was determined to be a brush/grass fire.  This was a small grass fire with one structure threatened.  The fire was extinguished.

Thursday, August 16

*2:55pm – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident involving an 18 wheeler colliding with a pickup at Simmons and Commerce.  No injuries were reported.

*5:18pm – BFD was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Coggin and Durham Avenue.  No injuries were reported.

Friday, August 17

*6:53am – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Avenue K and Austin Avenue.  Firefighters assisted Guardian EMS in loading a patient.

*10:05am – BFD was called to a grass fire in the 2500 block of FM 2126.  Early VFD assisted with mop-up.

*6:22pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 3100 block of Stephen F. Austin.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a utility vehicle on fire. Fire crews extinguished the fire and notified the fire marshal.

Saturday, August 18

*11:09am – BFD responded to a fire call in the 800 block of Greenleaf regarding the smell of smoke.  After investigating with thermal camera nothing was found.

*2:35pm – BFD was called to a two-vehicle accident in the 200 block of E. Commerce.  Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.

*3:33pm – BFD responded to a fire call in the 1500 block of Davis Lane regarding an alarm activation.  The incident was determined to be a false alarm.

*8:23pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 900 block of Trigg Street regarding sparking power lines.  According to the report, a yoyo had been thrown on the lines and Oncor was notified.
