commish22It was an emotional scene at the Brown County Elections Office Tuesday night as the winners of the Brown County Commissioners Primary Runoff Elections were announced.

Gary Worley defeated Tommy Blevins for the Brown County Commissioner Precinct 1 seat and was immediately hugged and congratulated by his family and friends who were present as the news was released.  Worley won with 53.49% of the vote.

Wayne Shaw defeated incumbent Richard Gist in the Primary Runoff Election carrying more than 60% of the vote.

“I was excited,” Shaw said.  “I worked real hard at it and I really appreciate the people that turned out and supported me.”

According to election officials, 3,452 total ballots were cast in the Primary Runoff Election.  Early voting and election day totals were split fairly evenly in that number.

See local results below as well as a video of comments from Gary Worley after he was announced the winner.
