On May 28th, 11 choir students from Brownwood High School competed in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition held in Austin, Texas. Trey Fawcett, Garrett Woods, Zak Webb and Kalin Young each received a Superior rating, the highest achievement, for their performances.

In addition, Zak Webb (pictured below) was selected as an Outstanding Soloist from the estimated 24,000 musicians who performed at the contest.

“Only 252 students earned this distinguished honor,” said BHS Choir Director, Patricia Garrett, noting that the Texas State Solo and Ensemble process began with around 90,000 students at the regional level. “This achievement is truly a mark of musical excellence and we are very proud of him.”
