Friends and family are asking the community to help out a Brownwood resident with expenses who needs a liver transplant.

Linda Daugherty, the widow of Sam Daugherty, has been fighting liver disease for 11 years and now has progressed to complete liver failure.  Daugherty is on the transplant list and will need financial assistance.   Daugherty is the daughter of Marlene and the late Carl Emerson of Brownwood, and also has three married children, Allison, James and John Daugherty, and 10 grandchildren.

According to the coordinator of the Daugherty Transplant Fund, Gloria Robertson, services and medications not covered by Medicare may be as high as $150,000.

Donations can be sent to the custodian of the Daugherty Transplant Fund at the Brownwood location of Bank of America, account 4880-3827-1795 at the following address:  Daughterty Transplant Fund, Attn:  James T. Daugherty 3216 Chesington Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76137.  It is asked that the donor indicate on the check memo line, Daugherty Transplant Fund and the above account number.

For more information on liver disease, please visit www.PBCers.org or call Robertson, Coordinator of the Daugherty Transplant Fund, at 432-528-2034.
