AndyKendraPutmanMay12On Saturday July 28th, a Family Day will take place at the Lehnis Railroad Museum with all proceeds benefiting Brownwood native and injured solider Andy Putman. The event will take place from 8am-5pm with several activities for kids, including the museum, bounce houses and train rides.

A hamburger lunch will be available for $5, and bounce houses, cotton candy and popcorn are $1 each. Admission to the railroad museum and rides on the miniature train are each $2.

Many local businesses have donated products to help the cause. Green Acres Rentals has provided the bounce houses and a cotton candy machine. Dr. Pepper Bottling Company has provided use of their Dr. Pepper trailer for the day. Cullen’s Hometown Market is providing the vegetables, and Mrs. Bairds is supplying the buns.

“I knew Andy, and wanted to help him out,” said Kim Peterson, Museum Curator. “All proceeds will go to an account set up for the family at Citizens National Bank.”

PFC Andy Putman, United States Army, sustained injuries when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by an IED while in Afghanistan in late April.  Putman is now back in the United States recovering.
