West Central Texas Council of Governments to hold Law Enforcement Training Course in Brownwood

WCTCOGLogoApplications are now being accepted for the Basic Peace Officer Course being held in Brownwood by the West Central Texas Council of Governments. The 750 hour course begins on August 27th and will last for 30 weeks. The deadline for applications to be accepted is Friday, July 27th.

Classes will be held at the Law Enforcement Training Center on 1050  W. Commerce, and will be held Monday through Friday from 6pm-10pm, and most Saturdays from 8am-5pm. Tuition is $1800 plus the cost of the uniform and ammunition fees.  Entry requirements are stated below:

  • Sponsored by a law enforcement agency
  • Attained 20th birthday before the first day of class
  • Is a U.S. Citizen
  • High School Diploma of G.E.D.
  • No Felony Convictions
  • No convictions of any class involving family violence
  • Must not be prohibited from possessing ammunition or firearm by state or federal law
  • Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle
  • No convictions above the grade of Class C misdemeanor within the past 10 years
  • Has not had a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge from the military
  • Pass physical examination
  • Pass psychological examination
  • Pass reading comprehension examination
