A one-vehicle accident with a utility pole sent a woman to the hospital Thursday morning.

Emergency responders were called to the 3900 block of Austin Avenue to a vehicle verses a utility pole accident around 8:00am.  Once on scene, they found that the vehicle severed the pole in half, and it also struck a mailbox and multiple landscape timbers before coming to rest in the yard of a residence.

A medical condition may have contributed to the accident.  Police on scene state that the woman was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment.  Her injuries appeared minor.

The vehicle, a Chevy Aztec, suffered major front-end damage, including loosing parts of its transmission and bending its front wheel.

Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police and Guardian EMS responded to the scene of the accident.  Verizon was called to the scene regarding the damaged utility pole.
