Brownwood City Council Agenda Regular Called Meeting

9:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 Council Chambers, City Hall 501 Center Avenue, Brownwood, Texas

The City Council of the City of Brownwood, Texas, reserves the right to meet in closed, executive session on any of the items listed below should the need arise and if authorized by Title 5, Chapter 551, of the Texas Government Code.

The City Council may deliberate and/or act on the following items:

1 Call to Order

2 Pledge of Allegiance

3 Invocation

4 Items to be withdrawn

5 Introductions, Announcements, and Recognitions

6 Citizen Presentations

Any citizen who desires to address the City Council on a matter not included on the agenda may do so at this time. The City Council may not deliberate on items presented under this agenda item. To comply with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Council respectfully requests that prior to addressing Council that each person submit a citizen presentation form that is located at the entryway to the Council Chambers, stating your name, address, and topic of presentation. All presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.

9 Public Hearing

A. Conduct a public hearing to change the zoning classification for Industrial First Addition, Block 10, Lots 7-14, located at 1305 Epley Street, from R-3 Multi-Family Residential District, to MH Manufactured Home District.

Following the Public Hearing, Council may consider an Ordinance on first reading to change the zoning classification for Industrial First Addition, Block 10, Lots 7-14, located at 1305 Epley Street, from R-3 Multi-Family Residential District, to MH Manufactured Home District.

10 Consent Agenda

A. Consider an Ordinance on second and third/final readings adopting a revised plan redistricting the City’s Council Member Wards.

B. Consider a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign contracts and amendments with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for the Senior Citizen Program.

C. Consider an extension of a contract between Brown County and the City of Brownwood for Dr. James Blair Hays, M.D. to serve as the City’s Public Health Authority.

11 Requests and Presentations

A. Consider approval of the action taken by the BEDC Board of Directors to fund a welding job training program through TSTC.

B. Consider a waiver of the Ordinance granting use of the existing sign structure located in the 500 block of Austin Avenue as a billboard.

C. Consider approval of Phase I of the Street Improvement Project.

12 Agreements and Contracts

A. Consider a contract with Brown Reynolds Watford (BRW) for architectural/engineering services for the Brownwood Central Fire Station design.

B. Consider a water contract with Brown County Water Improvement District for irrigation water for the Pecan Field Station and authorize the City Manager to sign said contract.

C. Consider cancellation of a contract with McCreary, Veselka, Bragg, & Allen,

P.C. (MVBA) for Municipal Court collection services.
